In the afternoon, we find solace in the Majorelle Garden, a serene oasis of lush greenery, vibrant blue buildings, and exotic plants. This peaceful haven was once owned by the French painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent.
Into the Desert: Merzouga
With our senses awakened by Marrakech’s bustling charm, we set off for Merzouga, a small village at the edge of the Sahara Desert. The journey by road takes us through the Atlas Mountains, where jagged peaks and verdant valleys create a dramatic backdrop.
Camel Trek into the Dunes

Our exploration of Fes takes us through the labyrinthine streets of the medina, where artisans practice their crafts as they have for centuries. We visit the famous tanneries, where leather is dyed using age-old techniques.
Al-Attarine Madrasa
We marvel at the Al-Attarine Madrasa, an architectural masterpiece adorned with intricate tilework and stucco decoration. The Bou Inania Madrasa and the University of Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859 AD, also offer glimpses into Morocco’s intellectual heritage.
Return to Marrakech
Our journey comes full circle as we return to Marrakech, enriched by our experiences in the Sahara and Fes. Marrakech’s bustling streets now feel familiar, and the city’s enchantment continues to captivate us.
